What is a Smart TV? Would you consider a TV smart if it could fix
you coffee in the morning or take out the trash? Or
perhaps you would consider your TV brilliant if it
automatically tuned into Sports Center when your
wife tries to change to Dancing With the Stars.
However, "Smart TV" is a really term used to
describe a television that is connected to the
Internet.
By connecting your television to the Internet,
you have access to a vast array of movies, music
and televisions shows that may not be available
with your cable or satellite TV provider.
Unfortunately, this handy feature goes largely
unused as most do not know how to set up or access
their Smart TV services. Oftentimes, this makes people
feel less intelligent than the "boob-tube" they are sitting in front of. You will discover, however,
that you don't have to be Einstein to enjoy
Smart TV.
Really any television, old or new, can be
connected to the Internet. Older TVs can be
connected by using an Internet-enabled Blu-ray
player, while many newer TVs have the features
built in. Some devices are able to connect to the
Internet wirelessly. Others can be connected
using wireless media bridges or powerline
Ethernet adapters.
Streaming is the term used to describe
watching or listening programs through the
Internet. Streaming works on most connections,
though high-speed is recommended. A fast connection
supports high-definition quality.
